Drug Trafficking in Florida

According to Florida Statutes 893.135, drug trafficking is defined as an individual who is knowingly selling, purchasing, manufacturing, and delivering an illegal drug. Any person who is found to have possession of more than a certain amount of a controlled substance may also be charged with trafficking, as they are considered to be involved in the drug trade with such a high quantity. Unfortunately, this charge is often unfair, because not all individuals who are found with a large amount of a substance are actually selling and delivering the drugs. Here are the minimum amounts needed for some commonly trafficked drugs:

  • Marijuana (Cannabis): 25lbs or 300 plants
  • MDMA (Ecstasy): 10 grams
  • Cocaine: 28 grams
  • Oxycodone and Hydrocodone: 4 grams

Make sure that you are properly defended if you have been charged with drug trafficking or any other drug crime. These can be serious charges that may lead to imprisonment and fines if you are convicted. Obtain legal counsel from a Lakeland criminal defense lawyer at Ayo and Iken, PLC. We can provide representation you can count on to stick with you throughout the entirety of your case.
